My Philosophy and Approach

I recognize the courage it takes to seek therapy, especially if you are from a culturally and ethnically diverse community. I am passionate about providing mental health services to international students and professionals, South Asian, Asian American, and Asian International individuals. I offer a unique understanding and appreciation for those who are raised in a culture other than their country of nationality (i.e., Immigrants and Third Culture Kids). I am also passionate about working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community, healthcare workers and supporting parents during the perinatal period and their journey moving forward.

My approach to therapy is caring, collaborative, culturally informed and action oriented. I believe in creating a supportive and non-judgmental environment where you can safely explore your thoughts and feelings, make informed choices, and recognize your own strengths. As your therapist, I walk alongside you in your journey, offering guidance and support while encouraging your autonomy and personal growth. I utilize this collaborative partnership, called Interpersonal Process Theory, with a multicultural and social justice framework, and combine it with evidenced based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing therapy (EMDR), and Solution-Focused Therapy. I include other skills such as mindfulness and breathing techniques to help clients better understand the healing benefits of the mind-body connection. By using evidence-based practices, my clients develop practical coping skills and strategies to ease their symptoms.

What You Will Experience Working With Me

Given my own multicultural identities, I realize that each of our lived experiences are unique! I know it is not easy to ask for help when feeling vulnerable or while navigating different worldviews and expectations. I honor the courage it takes to overcome the stigma for seeking therapy and your openness to consider it at this time.

Therapy is an opportunity for those who desire growth and meaning in their life. If you are struggling, having a tough time coping with difficult life events, or have a desire to learn more about yourself, it would be a privilege to walk with you on your journey of self-exploration, reflection, and personal development. One of the strongest predictors of success in therapy is the strength of the relationship between you and your therapist. As such, I strive to create a safe space where you feel comfortable and valued in our conversations. I value honesty and focus on meaningful interactions that are productive while maintaining a friendly and lighthearted demeanor. I practice cultural humility and empower my clients to be their own experts. Together we consider your individual context, unique lived experience, and relevant systemic issues. This process can enhance your ability to balance your own values and belief systems, reconnect with your inner self and live a more authentic life with meaning and purpose.
