Core mission: Helping you
How We Can Help
At Therapy Changes, we believe in therapy that benefits everyone. We’re passionate about supporting you through life’s difficult transitions at every stage of life, by offering the following services:
Not sure which therapy is right for you?
That's okay. Connect with us and we can help figure out what feels right for you.
Find relief when you feel overwhelmed or helpless.
It’s our mission to help you feel empowered to make positive change, with respect for the journey that led you here.
We’ll teach you valuable tools, techniques and resources to provide guidance and partner with you in developing realistic goals and create a plan to achieve them.
Our team of licensed clinical psychologists offer support and guidance using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based approach, that emphasizes balanced thinking and living. Your therapist is highly trained and committed to your comfort and success.
Take the first step toward therapy that works for you.
When choosing a psychologist, it’s important to find someone you can trust. All our therapists hold Ph.D. or Psy.D. degrees and provide evidence-based therapy. Unlike some online platforms, our clinicians are fully licensed professionals — not coaches or counselors.
We are in-network with three major insurance plans, Aetna, Cigna/Evernorth, and Health Net/MHN. Using insurance may share your diagnosis and treatment details with your provider. For greater privacy, private-pay sessions keep your therapy completely confidential.
When you’re ready, we can match you with the right therapist based on your needs and preferences, either in-person or online. Get started today!

Frequently Asked Questions
About Therapy Changes
What makes Therapy Changes different from other therapists in San Diego?
We are composed exclusively of licensed clinical psychologists with advanced doctoral training. We are deeply committed to evidence-based care delivered with compassion, thoughtfulness, and clinical excellence. In addition to high-quality therapy, we offer a highly supportive and well-organized experience from your first call forward, ensuring you feel informed, cared for, and confident that you are in capable hands.
Are all of your therapists licensed psychologists?
Yes. Every therapist on our team is a licensed clinical psychologist with a Ph.D. or Psy.D. and advanced training in evidence-based approaches, including CBT, trauma-informed care, relationship work, and support through life transitions.
What is your overall philosophy toward therapy?
We believe therapy should offer focused guidance when you need it most, especially during times when going it alone can feel overwhelming or hopeless. Using action-oriented, empirically supported approaches, we help clients find meaningful relief from symptoms while building practical skills that support lasting resilience and long-term success beyond therapy.
What’s unique about the way you approach therapy?
Our psychologists hold doctoral degrees and have advanced clinical training, allowing us to provide empirically supported, action-oriented therapy tailored to your needs. We combine warmth and collaboration with clear goal-setting and practical tools you can use right away. This structured, thoughtful approach goes beyond talk therapy to support meaningful change, lasting resilience, and progress that continues beyond the therapy room.
What type of therapeutic approach do you use?
We use action-oriented approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based, practical approach that helps you make meaningful changes in your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Our aim is to help you build skills and insights that support not only short-term relief, but long term success and lasting resilience beyond therapy.

Getting Started & Practical Details
Do you offer free consultation calls?
We don’t offer brief consultation calls with therapists. Instead, we offer a free 15-minute Matching Call with our Client Care Coordinator to help you find the therapist that best fits your needs, preferences, and availability.
We’ve found that short calls with therapists aren’t the most helpful way to assess fit. A full intake session offers a more meaningful sense of what therapy will actually be like and allows you to begin the work in a thoughtful, supportive way. If you’d like more guidance before getting started, you may find it helpful to read How to Find the Right Therapist.
How will you match me with the right therapist?
Our Client Care Coordinator will take the time to learn about your needs, goals, and preferences, and thoughtfully match you with a psychologist on our team whose training and areas of expertise best align with your concerns. This process helps ensure a strong and supportive match from the very beginning, setting you up for success in your therapy journey. Ready to get started? Book a free 15-minute Matching Call
What can I expect during my first therapy session?
Your first session is focused on getting to know you, including your goals, concerns, personal history, and what you would like to change. Together, we will begin creating a thoughtful plan that supports your growth and sets a strong foundation from the very beginning.
Where are you located?
The Therapy Changes office is conveniently located in Mission Valley, centrally situated in San Diego and easily accessible from the I-8 freeway. We are located in a professional building with designated client parking spaces located directly in front. Our office is thoughtfully designed for comfort and privacy, offering a calm and welcoming environment where you can feel at ease. In addition to in-person sessions at our Mission Valley location, we also offer teletherapy for clients throughout San Diego and California.
Can I do therapy online instead of coming into your Mission Valley office?
Absolutely. We offer Teletherapy for clients who prefer remote sessions or need more scheduling flexibility.
How long are therapy sessions?
Most therapy sessions at Therapy Changes are approximately 53 minutes. We will work collaboratively with you to establish a schedule that fits your needs, goals, and day-to-day life.
How soon can I get an appointment?
We make every effort to schedule new clients quickly, and appointments are typically available within one week, if not sooner. Our intake and matching process helps connect you with a psychologist who has availability that fits your needs. Call us today at 619-275-2286 to get started.
Do you accept insurance? And can I also pay privately?
Yes. Therapy Changes and its providers are in-network with Aetna, Cigna and Evernorth, and Healthnet (MHN). We will work with you to help you understand your benefits and coverage options so you can make an informed decision about your care. We also offer private pay, which many clients choose for increased privacy and greater discretion in your care. Making a private pay arrangement with your therapist keeps your diagnosis and case notes confidential and out of third-party systems. This may be particularly important to individuals with professional licenses, government workers, or others in sensitive positions who wish to limit the disclosure of mental health information.
