Stephanie Salo, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist in California providing individualized, attentive, supportive, and results-oriented care to couples and individuals with special interest in working with adults from a variety of sociocultural backgrounds. Dr. Salo recognizes that there are multiple aspects of a person’s identity that influence their worldview. Dr. Salo specializes in improving communication, healing from relational discord, and working together for reconciliation and growth with couples and individuals. She is skilled at helping clients learn the tools and strategies to manage anxiety-related and depressive concerns as well as trauma recovery, healing from grief and loss-related issues, adjusting to major life transitions and change, expanding identity development, and increasing productivity and life satisfaction. With a background in health psychology and urgent care as a Behavioral Health Specialist at UCSD’s Student Health Services, Dr. Salo is adept at managing complex issues as well as clients with co-occurring medical concerns. She brings a special appreciation and understanding to behavioral health issues, including sexual dysfunction, illness anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia, psychological adjustment to injury, and overall wellness.
Dr. Salo utilizes Integrated Therapy techniques and is trained in evidence-based treatment of trauma using Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE), as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), and utilization of the Gottman Method in her work with couples.
