Joy Francisco, Ph.D. is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in California who provides warm, attentive, supportive, and results-oriented care to children, adolescents, adults, and couples. She believes in collaboration with her clients and strives to make sure that each person in the family system feels heard and understood. As a result of her compassionate approach to therapy, Dr. Francisco is able to cultivate the kind of therapeutic relationship that leads to true transformation and lasting change. Dr. Francisco has a special interest in working with individuals from multicultural backgrounds, as she comes from a rich multicultural background herself. She believes that the therapeutic process involves commitment, courage, and teamwork and has a deep respect for those who are willing to seek help during difficult times in their lives.
Areas of Specialization
Dr. Francisco specializes in treating mood disorders throughout the lifespan including Depression and Anxiety. In addition, Dr. Francisco has specialized training and knowledge in the nature and impact of learning disabilities as well as Pervasive Developmental Disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder. Dr. Francisco helps individuals and families cope with transitional phases, whether that means adjusting to new environments and cultures, adjusting to changes that come with age, adjusting to a new family system, new school or job, or adjusting to life with a physical disability or mental health concern.
Dr. Francisco’s approach is family-focused with an emphasis on action-oriented interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and skills training in the areas of Social Communication, Executive Functioning, and Independent Living.
Dr. Francisco provides services in the Rancho Bernardo office in San Diego, California. She offers therapy in both English and Tagalog.
