Neuropsychological Evaluations

A comprehensive Neuropsychological Evaluation is the first step towards becoming more successful and empowered in your life. Participating in an evaluation will help you learn ways to optimize your strengths and develop skills to strengthen your areas of impact. Neuropsychological Evaluations at Therapy Changes in San Diego are offered to adults, adolescents and children. An evaluation can answer questions about your unique learning style, provide insight into your personality and offer diagnostic clarification.

What is a Neuropsychological Evaluation?

A Neuropsychological Evaluation is a process of testing that uses a combination of evidence-based techniques to help you understand more about you or your child’s behavior, personality and capabilities. Results of an evaluation can provide a comprehensive view of a person’s intellectual, academic and emotional functioning. The recommendations that follow a Neuropsychological Evaluation can help you achieve optimum performance in all aspects of your life, including work, school, home, as well as your relationships with others.

The Evaluation Process

A typical Neuropsychological Evaluation begins with a confidential interview with your therapist. The purpose of this interview is to obtain background information, discuss your concerns and identify the objectives for the evaluation. The second phase is the actual psychological testing during which you will be asked to answer questions, solve problems and share your thoughts. Your therapist will score and interpret the results from testing and take a comprehensive look at who you are from many different angles. Your therapist may also prepare a report for you or complete the appropriate forms or documentation for your particular situation.

In the last phase of the process, you will meet with your therapist for a final meeting to review your strengths, areas of impact and receive a set of recommendations that are specifically designed for you. Following the completion of the testing process, your therapist will remain available to you to answer questions and offer assistance in the coordination of care with schools, employers, attorneys, or other health professionals.
