Our couples and marriage therapy services, which may also be expanded to include family therapy, are appropriate for couples of all types—men and women who’ve just married or have been married for decades, gay couples, and even boyfriends and girlfriends. Your level of commitment may vary, but couples therapy is certainly appropriate if you’re committed to working on your relationship.
It’s a unique privilege to provide support to proactive couples who are interested in bettering their relationships, but we find many couples who come to us for marriage therapy are already facing marriage problems. Therapy begins with working on your present-day concerns—addressing issues that are important to you right now—and over time, we have the opportunity to broaden our focus to explore the root causes. Our goal is to equip couples with tools and techniques they can use to feel better—and reach the conclusion that’s right for them.
We find couples benefit greatly from couples therapy and most describe a sense of relief after the first session. Our initial course of action is to discover a foundation of resilience so we can start working on changing couples’ patterns of thinking or behaving. With clearer insight into their relationship issues, couples may find themselves stronger than ever, realize they need to work more on the issues they face, or determine they need to learn how to divorce.
